Target Student:

This course is designed for Network and System Administrators who administer and maintain Windows Server systems that provide various services in an enterprise environment. Individuals should attend if they are Windows administrators who are responsible for administering and maintaining Windows Server systems as their primary job responsibility. In addition, individuals who administer Windows client PCs and wish to upgrade their skills to work with the latest edition of Windows Server will also benefit from this course.

This course is also designed for students who are seeking the MCSA: Windows Server 2016 certification and who want to prepare for Exam 70-740: Installation, Storage, and Compute with Windows Server 2016.


To ensure your success in this course you should have some working knowledge of Windows and basic networking concepts. You should also be comfortable working with Windows PCs in an enterprise environment. Experience in completing administration and security tasks in an enterprise environment is preferred. You can obtain this level of skills and knowledge by taking the following courses, available from Logical Operations:

Course-specific Technical Requirements


For this course, you will need one computer for each student and one for the instructor. Each computer will need the following minimum hardware configurations:

  • A processor capable of running Hyper-V® for hosting 64-bit VMs with support for SLAT processors—any Intel® processor i3, i5, or i7 above 4th generation that supports SLAT
  • 16 gigabytes (GB) RAM or more (32 GB recommended)
  • 500 GB or above on hard disk
  • DVD-ROM drive (if installing any software from a DVD-ROM)
  • Keyboard and mouse (or other pointing device)
  • Graphics hardware acceleration requires DirectX 10 graphics card (1,280 × 800 resolution monitor recommended)
  • A network adapter compatible with Windows Server 2016
  • Internet access (contact your local network administrator)
  • Printer (optional) or an installed printer driver
  • Projection system to display the instructor's computer screen
